E. & H.T. Anthony
Novelette, Patent Duplex Camera
Date Introduced: 1885 ; Years Manufactured: 1885-1898
Construction: rear focus via push-pull but with fine-focusing screw; single swing; reversing by rotating bellows and back; plywood lensboard
Materials: mahogany body; cherry base; black fabric bellows; brass hardware
Sizes Offered: 5×8 and 8×10 backs for the same track; in 1891 also 8×10 and 11×14 backs for the same track
Notes: The bellows not only rotate, like all Anthony novel and novelette cameras, but this camera’s bellows detach, allowing two different sizes of rear standards to be slid onto the tracks. The above camera is probably the 5×8/8×10 version, as is the camera below, which has both backs.
